Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Originating in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American businesses and families saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Every Pella® Product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. What does this mean for you? Not only could you find a drop in your heating and cooling costs, you can help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are specifically designed and custom-built for your home, meaning no two projects are identical. Our wide variety of products make it hard to discuss pricing without first bearing in mind your needs and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it useful to send out a Pella sales representative who will provide you with a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To accelerate the quoting procedure, your Pella® sales representative is armed with a computer and a portable printer so that they can give you all the quote information you’ll need—just as soon as the sales representative has a chance to consider the requirements of the project and aligns them with your vision.

In addition to offering a large assortment of high-quality products to pick from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you great window and door products at affordable prices, providing you with a chance to make the upgrades you want to while building great value into your Washington DC area home all the while.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We suggest that you use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mixture or use an ammonia free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. You can also mix your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the mix to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. Do not use glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based because they could form streaks or create a film that magnetizes moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses contract installers who are certified to install Pella products. We require them to complete a carefully crafted set of training courses so that your windows and doors are correctly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty criteria. We look for the best Washington DC-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Prior to beginning our relationship, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are are insured by liability and workers compensation insurance. Aside from Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Pella provides services and support that “big box” stores can’t match. Our staff is made up of professionals whose expertise is in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Having a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and expert installers means that your project will have the expertise of our whole team. We like to use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. Simply contact our office, your sales representative, or our project manager with any questions or concerns you may have and we will get to work resolving the issue.
